Hi all

I have received a few items from friends that I'd thought I'd share with you. Some of these have come from a person with no interest in WW2 or anything military, but spends most days out metal detecting. He sends me anything he finds of a military nature Other finds have come from the guy who 'runs' the British army dump site the RRPG visit on a regular basis.

Close up of the submarine. Made from lead, I have been told these were made from the ballast of ships and sold for a penny to raise money for the war effort. Anyone confirm ?





Very nice little medal type item, dated 1905 and made from copper, (and thence into brass), from Nelson's ships according to the inscription.





A very strange bolt. Initially I thought it was a standard LE bolt, but the little catch behind the lever says something different. P17 perhaps ?





A German wound badge, ground dug in Poland. Very nice



Lastly, this little devil. Came out of the British army dump and the message is clear, but I am not sure if this was mounted on the ammo box, belt or the gun itself !

That ammo belt plaque looks to be almost of too good quality to be mounted on a mere ammo box, so I'd go with one of the other options.

Sod off Rich. The brass is made with copper from The Victory. I've amended the original post to make you look daft.

I believe that the Nelson medallion's original intended purpose looks to be that of a watch fob. Nice item!

I've a fealing the brass plate is from a belt filling machine rather than a ammo box and its not the sort of thing that would be attached to a gun.

The bolt is a Long Lee Enfield Mk1 bolt converted to Charger Loading Lee Enfield AKA CLLE Mk1.

This is the same type I found on the second dig fitted to my My Relic RAF CLLE Mk1.

M3bobby - I agree that the plate is probably off a belt filing machine.

However, why do you think the bolt is for a CLLE rather than a Mark I*? Obviously it could be from a CLLE but I cannot see anything that makes that definite.
