    Here is something a bit unusual. It is a lemonade bottle with marble stopper which is embossed on the front " ROYAL ARTILLERY CANTEEN SHOEBURYNESS". Embossed on the rear is " JOHN KILNER MAKERS WAKEFIELD"It probably dated from between 1900 - 1914. Shoeburyness is in Essex and is still being used to this day as a testing area for detonating munitions. I imagine after a hard days graft a nice cool glass of lemonade was most welcome.

    Thanks for the replies. Many years ago before I collected anything military I do remember seeing similar bottles from Woolwich and Brompton (near Gillingham kent). Not sure if they were used anywhere else in the country though.
