Good month for me so far, this. 3 inch shell and a 2 inch smoke. Rest assured, these were recovered using the utmost care.

Nice finds, you would have been mortar-fied if they were live
Lovely finds, you'll have to get a relic 3 inch fuse to go with the body. Love the original paint/markings on your 2inch smoker,is it full of ash the by product of use or is it empty?
Keep up the good work, you're on a roll.

The 2" smoke is a nice find, they usually rot out quickly.

Superb finds Salz The markings on that 2inch smoke are remarkable. Look like sand finds ? The thin casings of the smoke usually disintegrate quickly in normal soil, leaving just the spent smoke compound behind.
Sand finds indeed. Unfortunately, most finds are SAA cases and grenade shrapnel. This area has been pummelled by all manner of ordnance since WWI. Once upon a time it extended beyond the heath area it is now and I'm trying to track down the landowner to see if I can get permission to extend my search.
