Looks like the end of a ww2 11.5lb practice bomb fin. Tho whole in the centre is for the det tube and the bolt is the filling whole plug. The fins would have been tin plate so they have either rotted out or exploded. The shoulder should be threaded .
    Cheers

That's the call plate from B-17F 42-30834 GD-E "Mickey Finn", 534th Bomb Squadron, 381BG, crashed on base 4th February 1944.
Usually found affixed to the main instrument panel.

    All the best,
    PB

    Hangerman,

Thanks very much mate it looks like your spot on with that!! I have another one that has some nice markings on the little filler plug. I will try to get a photo up later.

    Paul,

That's just great mate it's not very often I pick somthing up I can place to an individual aircraft. Really happy with that one.

    Big ned,

A photo of the crew and aircraft is just brilliant thank you.

    Another photo of MICKEY FINN.
I'm so happy with this one. It was found a good year or so ago and I only just got round to digging it out and cleaning it. (I didn't recognise it for what it was before)
It's the closest ac in in the photo.

When I was at work on Thursday I spotted a cannon shell in the field I went back today for a better look this is what the field looks like when I'm not in a tractor cab. Within half an hour my rucksack was full and I was on my way back home.
