I note you have the lenses from a pair of Foster Grant Anti-glare goggles in you cabinet - see picture below - These are often referred to as Ski goggles but were also used as sun glasses by bomber crews I believe - not as glamorous as the sun glasses worn by fighter pilots, but less likely to get dislodged /lost when in a bomber being thrown around by flak etc I should think!

Hi nick, I'm sorry I kind of missed your post! These goggles are quite a common find. I remember finding this pair ( my 1st ) thinking I wouldn't find another but I think I've got 3 sets now. I did have a mint set In my display like the ones in your photo but they had to be sold

Interesting that you find them quite often, as I used to keep getting told that they were only used as ski goggles and hardly ever issued! I bought some 2000 pairs in 1994 and they went down a treat at the D-Day 50th celebrations (showing my age!). I have found references to them being used by aircrews, vehicle drivers etc as they were so good at keeping the dust out - Even saw them on a music video recently - Black-eyed Peas Will-I-Am on an elephant was wearing them - bet that wasn't in the US Army manual! - Saved a box for a rainy day, so still have a few.

This came up at the weekend. It's not the first lighter made from a 50 I have found but I think it's the best one so far.
I'm not going to clean it, it's going straight in the display as is.

This item was NOT dug up by me but I think it deserves a place in this thread. It's. a c-1 autopilot control assembly cover. I bought this from a dealer of ww2 aircraft parts in the US. It came from one of the 1000s of scraped bombers that were salvaged after ww2.
I'm very happy to add this to my collection.

Just wanted to know if anybody has any thoughts on this? It's from way back in this thread but couldn't get an I'd at the time. It's starting to get in the way so if I can't I'd it its going in the scrap bin on the farm.
It is most likely to be from a B17 or B24. It is large 37" x 15" and as you can see it has a steel rod running down one side but looks like it had one down the other side at one time. It was in a hedge so it may just be abit of farm junk but it has a good clear part number. If it turnes out to be from a B24 it will be my first piece from a liberator.
