I find myself going back through you page once a month to check out what's new as I have subscribed to it. I think its fantastic the amount of stuff still in the ground, you are doing a great job mate. keep it up. If I ever find myself in Russia I would love to look you up and go out for a dig with you as all I find is US and Australian stuff here in Ozz
One question what happens to all the bodies that have been found around Stalingrad area ??
Again keep up the fantastic work mate

...very interesting finds, Sebastien. Indeed, it was a very "generous" bunker.

    Hamish

I guess we~ you and I have a LOT better than many in Ozz though~ I have followers that would kill to have ready access to the sites that we have ~

In fact I envy you merely having a "stable" US camp access ~ ours are extremely fickle and irregular ~ Any US stuff we find is incidental and totally unpredictable ~

Of course then there is the case of Moire digging a Werhmarct aluminium canteen cup and seeing it thrown in the recycling bin because two others reckoned it was modern trash ~ LOL

As for the KIA remains of Stalingrad, some time ago I watched an SBS doco on the Stalingrad confrontation and the Russian government had located a local war cemetery area for the Germans,

Subsequently the German government had contracted a local bloke to locate and relocate German remains tro the cemetery ~

The bloke felt that his grand children would inherit this task!!!!!!!!!!!

The Volksbund has been actively searching for the missing at Stalingrad for many years using local groups and diggers as well as the VBO , the reconciliation cemetery at Rossoschka is where all the remains are interred to. , it has been there since the late 1990's.

About 8 years ago i was present at the ceremony at Rossoschka when the memorial stones to over 100,000 who are MIA were put in place !

Valery the guy in the documentary is one of the most well known diggers and guides , the initial documentary was commossioned via a good friend of mine who was a veteran JG 3 !!
