Sebastien how many spoons of Oxalic do you add in 10 liters of water?
I would recommend 150g in 10 liters of water.

Thanks Glenn. Have you tried it with success? The paint was not harmed?
And how much time do i have to have it soaked in for?

Soaking time depends on the amount of rust and the rate at which the paint fades. You'll need to check on the piece every 1/2 hour or so and stop when you think things look about right. In fact, if it were me, I would probably try a bath in white vinegar first, it is slow (could be 24 hours or more) but there is not so much danger of fading the paint.

Next to Gorodisсhe we found a short trench where we found things from Soviet soldiers.

From experience white vinegar is a killer. I know it's different in every country, depending on the quality and kind of the grapes used, but the one i used was so strong it even "eats" the metal. The paint wouldn't last even a few minutes.

I used white vinegar on 4 relic grenade heads. They were soaked for 3 days, the rust washed away and the paint was fine. Perhaps Cypriot vinegar is ultra strong!

Use of 100-150 grams of oxalic acid to 10 liters of water. Use warm water, about 50-70 degrees Celsius. Put your thing in the water. Wait for 15-30 minutes. After done replacement of the water, add a new portion oxalic acid. Repeat the procedure 3-4 times.
Then take the thing in hands and to wash with soap and water.
In 10 liters of water add baking soda to put your thing. Keep your thing in this solution for several hours. It is necessary to neutralize the acid reaction. http://hgal.ru/questions/10-neitrali...chelochei.html

    For Glenn66

I can not say exactly what is acid good for zinc. Using different acids required for different things, it all depends on condition and what is your ultimate goal.

I want to say to everyone!

That the best advice is the personal experience.

You can see how I cleaned the items earlier... 3-4 years ago. I spoiled a lot of things, made mistakes ... I still make mistakes but I try to learn every day ....
