Well, I and my friend decided to walk into a rest area north of Stalingrad. There were rear positions of Soviet troops. We dug up several Soviet bunkers. We found a Soviet gas mask and a few fragments from projectiles. After the German bunkers that walk was very sad . But we got great experience and a dip in the Volgograd's Reservoir

Today my friend and me were digging in the north of Stalingrad, Erzovka-point... This is the position of the rear of the Red Army.
First we dug rare Soviet helmet, SSh-36... The first time I dug this helmet
    After we dug up SSh-40
It was near a small bunker, this place near my friend's country house

    Video about our favorite places.

North of Stalingrad, Yerzovka (Erzovka) point or Nordriegel-Stellung...

The time when we did not use metal detector and then when I bought Tesoro Cibola.

Near entrance to the bunker, I found a bayonet on a rifle Mauser 98k .
I also found: the second enamel cup, spoon- fork, cavalry spurs, two shovels, two hammer, a chisel (not all you can see on photos).

Thanks so much for all the postings of your interesting finds.

I love your latest photos around Volgograd. The area is very beautiful.

One question: I notice how deep you have to dig in many areas to get to the objects. Is there something about the soil that makes stuff sink so deep into the earth in this area? I've seen videos in other areas - like east Germany - where the finds seem to be at a much shallower depth.

This is great truth in the war. The deeper your pit - the your life will be safe...

Soldiers feared artillery and air force ...

The steppe is close to the desert. Today we saw "a local man" - wind scorpion (Solifugae)

Tomorrow I will continue story about the bunker that my friend dug.
    Now I want to sleep

    The most interesting finding:
Soviet pepper castor. This is of table service, the dining room of the Red Army.
This is all the finds that we have found there. Maybe the next time we'll dig there.

Okay, I think I should continue to publish photos from place of excavation

After a visited to the recruiting office (July 8), I went to see a friend in the village of Gorodische. You remember, my friend dug up a large German bunker, with burnt-out documents and safe.
We talked with him and agreed to dig at the ravine together.

After meeting with a friend, I dug a little at the ravine near Gumrak...
I dug up cover for a small shovel. That's all.

July now on the street ... and here also very hot weather ... about 30-35 degrees Celsius.

This is very bad for diggers like me ...

solid ground takes a lot of effort to dig up a few pieces of rusty metal But we do it

Another day, we dug a large bunker next to the "burning bunker".
Look at the photos, it was a cruel joke ...

Photo from the ravine, took my friend's daughter ...

Andrey, I just spent the last couple days going through your thread and I am very impressed, so much so I made an account on here to comment. Like many I am envious of your location and its locale to such a monumental and terrible battle. I've been to a few battlefields of the 1st and 2nd world wars in France and remember well how much 'stuff' there is left over from these wars. Walking along the edge of a freshly plowed field anywhere in western France you will find bullets and shell fragments right on the surface just as you are finding deeper in the earth. I wish I was still in Europe to appreciate and visit such places (I was young when I lived in Europe).

I'm glad to see that interest and passion still remains for this time period and that there are people such as yourself out there enterprising to uncover the history lying beneath your feet. The great conflicts of Europe have always been of the greatest interest to myself, being of primarily German descent... they are what have shaped our world into what it is today!! Almost as interesting as the finds themselves are the little glimpses into your life in this thread; the sights of your city and the surrounding countryside are fascinating to one who has not ventured into this part of Europe before (one day!).

Do not give up and do continue your searches! Were I employed (times are tough not only in Russia..) I would like contribute to your efforts. For now I can afford but words however.

I eagerly await your next dig!
