That is the gun site for the Sturmgeschutz , Selbstfahrlafetten -Zielfernrohr 1A ( Telescopic sight for Self Propelled Guns ),
The sight is code BEH manufacturer Ernst Leitz GmbH , Wetzlar that is a remarkable find in that condition !!!
Do you know the location it was found it may be possible to determine the unit ?

Hi Seb, sorry to 'dig up' such an old post, but this one really interested me. One of my Order Red Star's was awarded to a Lt of the 16th independent signals battlation (Red Army) that fought in the area.
The citation specifically mentions him using a captured German 'heavy cable' for improvised communications. Perhaps it was this one?
