    Great finds, Seastian.
    I like the scope and the oiler especially.
    Looks like the glass in the scope is still intact, but surely you cant look through it?

    Fantastic finds Seb. That is exactly how we use Google Earth here in the UK to find old military camps and such like. Fantastic sniper scope

    So it boils down to a lot of research,,, a long shot maybe but would it be worth searching out the local people who were alive back then and interview them?? assuming there are still some left, it's been a long time.

    This is a common tactic used by most diggers , it is surprising what the old folk can still remember of the fighting around their village etc !!

    Local history archives?? assuming any were kept,,,and are there records from either the German or Russian military readily available?

    I see the advantage only in aerial photos. Aerial photo of the Red Army is not available, only the German aerial photo of the American archives of NARA. But to have them we have to pay money .... which we have not))))

    gold plated ring with the initials
    carbide lamp
    some coins of the Soviet

    shoulder straps for Feldwebel, communications
