I have also heard about problems in Russian customs when sending relics abroad but personally i never experienced any. I also had a relic helmet from Stalingrad which i have purchased from ebay.com
The seller was located in Volgograd (former Stalingrad).

I've purchased many pieces from Stalingrad over the years-never a problem. Horrendously slow Shipping at times, but they almost always show up eventually.

Honestly i have no idea. It was 3 years ago, before i had discovered this or wny other forum. I remember that i was a bit sceptical about the helmet because i wasn't aware that such thing as digging and relics existed. So i asked for pictures of the digging area and he had sent me some pics from trenches, destroyed buildings plus some sightseeings of Volgograd.

I used to buy a few relic pieces from Stalingrad sellers on ebay, it was nice to see the postmarks and senders addresses were always Volgograd so that is some encouragement the pieces were from where the seller said they were.

Exactly. And if you are not paying something extra just because the relic is supposed to have been recovered from Stalingrad, then there is no reason for doubt.

A good way of checking the authenticity Glenn , many E Bay sellers buy relics from anywhere then claim they are from the " Sexy " Battlefields such as Stalingrad , Normandy etc etc as they know they will get more for it than for telling the truth and saying it is from a dump in Germany !!
