    Default Strange Light Infantry Bugle

Hi all. I was not sure where this would be best but put it here as it looks like a metal detector find. It appears to be a variation of the British Army light infantry bugle, just missing the top bit unfortunately. Also appears to be made of brass or bronze and it quite heavy. I have shown it next to a modern Light Infantry anodised cap badge for scale. I did initially think it could be off an old patchbox, however it has no discernible method of attaching it to anything. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Probably from an older ceremonial or presentation piece !!

Being larger, and having heavier fixings, .... I'd go for it being a Victorian cross strap fixture.
