Hi John,
The cartridge base you have is a 1 1/2" J Mk IV T illuminating cartridge. The bases were 'milled' for easy night time recognition like this:
Milled all round = Red.
1/2 Milled Circumference = White.
1/4 Milled Circumference = Yellow.
Unmilled Circumference = Green.

love to know what pic 5 is found a lot of these on my local airbase now.Are they for fuel? I know it sounds crazy but found most near the bomb dump area thought they were from bombs myself??

They could well be the transport nuts off aerial bombs. However, I think they are more likely to be off drop tanks but not Bowater ones......I have 7 of the bowater drop tank filler caps and they don't look at all like this.

Nice finds.
With you finding the starter cartridges I guess you must have moved over onto the airfield where the aircraft were rather than the camping area where you got all the coins. Keep up the good work.
