Its been a while since I last dug at this site...... about time for another go
Straight out the ground, the helmet was just too nibbled to keep but look at that water bottle
A closer look.
This is the first US water bottle I've dug so I'm Mr Happy at the mo ....and it cleaned up a treat. Just a shame I couldn't find the lid.
Nicely marked to the base. 1943
The usual crockery.
This was an unexpected find, a pre war bicycle front acetylene lamp.
Which as you can see was modified at a later date to electric battery power. You can see the chunky brass lamp holder mounted on the back.
Found just below the surface, four fired .303 cartridges replaced into a clip?
When found this flashlight was covered in leached on rust, but also had traces of the original Army green paint. The rust cleaned off nicely but this also removed what remained of the paint, it's made of chromed brass.
A large sized ammonia bottle, this product was sold to wash uniforms and clothes. Embossed PETREL AMMONIA GLASGOW. The rear is marked Table Spoons Full.
Until next time, thanks for looking.
