US Civil War Belt Buckle

Article about: The patina is fine. The metals of the era weren't exactly modern standards. They used a lot of lead, etc in their alloys-the oxidized differently than modern metals,is all. It looks great.

Default US Civil War Belt Buckle

    Hello everyone;

I picked this US Civil War Belt Buckle up for my gal who is a civil war collector. It's a relic but I know people fake relics now days also.
    Does it look good?

    Thanks

Cant comment on the buckle, but its not called 'The Civil War.'
Talking to local history buffs in Richmond, I learned the hard way, that its called either 'The War between the States' or 'The War for Northern Aggression!'
Your are from north of the Mason-Dixon Line, so you are forgiven for not knowing that.
Just dont let it happen again.
PLEASE NOTE: The above is of course meant as a joke.

With the almost tangible spirit of Jeffeson Davis next door, you dont call it 'The Civil War' here....perish the thought!

It is a good one friend. Called a puppy paw for the style of belt posts rather than the later arrow head style.
You do need to post better photos buddy.

I'm sorry about the photo taking skills the afternoon. I used my new "smart phone" camera... damn thing wouldn't focus!

Being from North Dakota, "The War between the States" probablly was over before anyone up here heard about it.

    "The War is Over!!"
"Woah... you're telling me we have had 16 Presidents now?"

New Pics and one of the only relics in ND!

Was this buckle dug In ND? Could possibly be a leftover encounter with a Sioux or one of the other annoyed tribes of the region.

No, it wasn't dug in ND, I wish it was! The 7th Cav was in North Dakota and that means $$$$.
I was refering to the old car being a ND relic. The only thing i've found are arrowheads, chains, pottery, and random nails.

This was found in Manassas, VA
    Thanks!

SteveR actually originally helped me buy this buckle. I can't thank him enough for the advice!
The only thing i've noticed about this buckle is that the patina is light.
Almost flaky if you would scratch hard at it. Maybe someone tried to touch it up with some sanding or something?
    Maybe I'm just paranoid again...

    Thanks again!
