There are still treasures to be found in those hills and forests...In 1983 I hiked through the Eifel-Region, and an elderly gentleman gave us a local history-lesson mentioning abandoned firearms littering the countryside at war's end...He also mentioned that the local farmers have a few stashed away..."Wenn wir die Waffen haetten, die die Bauern versteckt haben, dann haetten wir genug!"/ "If we had the weapons that the farmers have hidden, we'd have plenty!"...
