The war- what can be found today in the forest?

Article about: ah...Dimas, about the rifle in the tree. By chance did you check the ground around the bottom of the tree? Just wondering if it's owner might still be around.

    The second picture shows a german helmet from WW1, likely a M17 stahlhelm or M16.Why is it there?Was this wood a battle site on ww1?

    Such amazing findings! I would like to go to such places on the Eastern Front once. On this side of Germany you are very lucky to find at least one helmet. The Mauser in the tree is a dream find. A bit cleaning and it could fire again. Thanks for posting this!

    WWI helmets were still issued during WWII because of shortages.

    Also that kind of helmets used by Finnish army, and all the three Baltic republic, which meet the war with Red Army territorial corps

    Leave the tree and enjoy the Mauser as it is!!!

    It's a far more interesting piece as it is, having been propped up against that tree all these years; and by the way the photo shows it upside down, pine branches grow upwards!!
