    Interesting and poignant pictures - sort of sums up the whole futility of international conflicts.

    The curved ZB machine gun magazines that you have pictured, do you know what ammunition they held? They look to be Bulgarian ZB39 Mags.Did they fight in the area?

    The information on this thread about the finding of war dead and that they were given a proper burial and that some were interred in family graves justifies my strong argument on another forum that described all diggers as gouls and grave robbers, an archoligist said that all excavations should be done by proffesionals. My reply was to the effect that one of them faffing around with a pointing trowel and a paint brush wouldnt find much in a million years. John.

    A lot of Italian equipment was sent to the finnish during the winter war;

    the most notable are

    -M33 helmets
    - most of the "brand new" M38 rifles chambered in the new 7,35 mm round, together with their folding bayonets
    - Old beretta 1915 guns
    - second hand Fiat G50 fighter planes

    Digging on ww2 battlefields has absolutely nothing to do with archaeology, probably never will (or at last in 500 yrs.). I´m an archaeologist and it´s really a totally different thing. I chose not to comment on pickaxes, pointing trowels etc.. )

    My friend is professional archaelogist, and he is discontinued his medievial work with and now he is a fun of WW2 battlefields. Where is the period limitations to call- archeology. After 1509 year all the archeology works needs to be renamed- digging
