What does it take to get started in Battlefield/Conflict Archaeology

Hey guys,

I was wondering what it takes to get into Battlefield Archaeology. I have a BS in history education and am going to pursue a Master's in either Archaeology or Museum Studies. I was wondering how most of you guys got started. I have done some digging on an 1800s homestead on land that my in-laws own. However, World War II is my passion, and I would love to get involved. Do you guys have any tips?

But IMO the first important step in this fantastic pastime is ~

Even more Research ~ Know your target ~


Very frustrating if you are wandering around hill and dale and you are in fact a matter of tens of metres or even kilmetres off the target ~

But IMO that is bound to be part and parcel of the search anyway ~ I am still wandering those Hills and dales looking and finding nothing

Here in Australia, brush fires are great bonus for us ~ they clear the vermin and the heavy grass which otherwise hamper and hinder any relic discovery ~

The most important thing is to make sure you respect the laws of the land where you intend to dig!
