Steuerschutz would mean steering protection, it appears to be from an electrical heater to prevent a steering column from freezing .But I could be wrong.

Sounds about right, has a conversion for Volts into amps as well I believe. So you know its something electrical, and short of radio components, an electrical heater sounds probable.

Amazing finds. Some of the arms & ordnance I've only seen drawings of (eg. the PPSH).

Is there a conscious effort to return remains to the respective countries? Or do the relic hunters not want to expose their finds/activities? Does Germany just want to move on?
