No problem "Skipper", welcome to the forum fellow Norwegian!

Wow, I know the feeling you felt, really cool find and a shame that you couldn't take it with you home, as it is a beautiful item..

But I would rather have it destroyed than have it destroy myself!
    Thanks for sharing

    Thanks

The German Luftwaffe in Norway played a big part in the war actually... The biggest jobs for the Luftwaffe in Norway during the war was first: To protect Norway against enemy planes, as Norway stretches far far, and is very long, hundreds of AA - defenses where built..

The whole Norwegian coastline was guarded by hundreds of costal artillery defense units, bunkers and guns.. Most of these defense position groups needed AA defense to protect from enemy planes..

In most cases, say one defense group with 4* 15cm guns, had a gun crew : costal defense soldiers or HEER artillery units, Luftwaffe troops manning maybe 4* 20 mm flak cannons, and in some cases the stronghold was supported by a small group of regular whermach soldiers for ground defense...

Second: The Germans used and built many airfields in Norway, the reason was that they were in good range of England and so forth...
