    Default Early SA WKC Dienstdolch

Here is one from my collection I wanted to share with those interested in SA daggers. This maker is WKC “Weyersburg Kirschbaum & Cie and rates in the middle of a rarity scale. The group mark is “P” for Pomerania,, which is not seen to often. This Gau district was situated North of Berlin and bordered the East sea. The Russians pretty much dominated everything east and north east of berlin after the war as these are not common to find as much as Gruppe marks obtained in American and British controlled parts of Germany. This dagger is a tight fit all the way around and I will let the photos do the rest of the talking.

5 more. The crossgrain is all there but it is difficult sometimes trying to catch the right angle when photographing at night.

Thank you gentlemen, over time I will share a few more of my early SAs. To Adrian yes it is unfortunate about the runner marks, but that comes over time with so much in and out with dirt and verdigris build up on the scabbard runners. This is caused by oil that is put on the blade and left to dry over the decades. Below is a not too bad example of where on the high points of the runners are worn,, which is the part that rides on the blade.
With the right care the runners will look like the second photo!

Siegfried, now thats a lovely WKC you got there

Runner marks are on the blades of most daggers but i would not be
confident enough take the top scabbard fitting off to take out the runners
to clean them up incase i damaged the scabbard, top fitting & screws, at the end of the day
the runner marks would still be there anyway so i guess the runner marks are part of the daggers history & there to stay imo.

    Regards Scott.

Thank you Mac and Nuno,,I have to say scabbard take down is not for everyone and would be best as you say to be left well alone. Those screws are tiny and if one lands on the floor or your carpet,, the vacumm cleaner will find it maybe!!
