My advice is ALWAYS to dig deeper and never settle for less. Playing it safe has its benefits some of the time..but not all the time.
Research and study bags the larger prize and also protects us from the predators. Its what you may be comfortable with and thats fine for some ..but not a rule of thumb for others.
There is nothing warm and fuzzy about cold steel. We dig into it and it gets messy and produces results - favorable or non favorable. Welcome back Stevade !

Hi Larry
Very deep reply .... The only thing you need to dig deeper for is that extra cash Dealers want you to pay for a perfectly good SA that's been ruined by a Bogus Inscription. The dagger you've just bought is the best thing ever .... Until you try and pass it on to another Dealer!!
If someone could tell me how people compare Fakes from Originals I may start being not so cautious ... until then treat them all will suspicion ( especially the old blag about the Vet bring back )
I remember owning a Red Cross Leaders Dagger with a rare inscription on the Blade, also the cross guard also was engraved with matching numbers as the blade ... I sold this dagger to a well established UK Dealer, and within weeks to my horror I saw the dagger had been stripped .... part being sold by a UK Dealer, and the other part by another UK Dealer.
Always treat with caution these so called Inscription Blades.

Well here are my two cents..It's an early SA but with what looks like an aluminum eagle from a late production run. Can't comment on the inscription but after reading all post I would be careful.
