Nice dagger in good condition.........
Regards,
Steve.
Hi Thanson..not sure what you mean by a "without a ground off Rohm".....correct me please if I misread your post. This is a Non Rohm dagger if that is what you mean..and this producer did not make any Rohm Dedication daggers. The Gruppe mark "Wf" Westfalen does not appear on any of my source references..and would also explain the lower crossguard fit not being the best to the grip. Just an observation
Eppenstein guards are internally marked " EW " The upper guard fits nice and tight. Regardless the whole dagger is early period. Regards Larry

I have to agree. Unfortunately, it does seem that the lower crossguard should not be there. It doesn't look Bad, but as Larry said, the WestFalen markings are not right and the grip does not fit into is as finely as they should. Sorry for the bad news...

bummer, what should a person do about the crossguard? Is there even any chance that there are going to be any crossguards available from what I assume is an uncommon maker?
So was the Wf an SS Gruppe mark?

Wf (WestFalen) was used for many SA makers, but unfortunately, so far as known, C. Eppenstein's group marks are Ho, Nm, and Wm. I wouldn't want to calculate the odds of finding a spare lower crossguard from Eppenstein, but you never know, I guess. In the meanwhile, like I said, it doesn't look Bad.

OK I had to pull out my"Collectors Handbook of WW2 German Daggers" By LTC. (RET.) Thomas M. Johnson and on page 205 under " Group Identification marks" It list the Wf mark as a SA Identification Mark for Westfalen.
Now I know I got this book years ago ,but has something changed since it's printing?

Does the crossguard being incorrect significantly hurt the value of the dagger?
