I'm not a huge fan of the gaps in the handle at both the top and bottom. Wood does shrink but I don't believe this handle belongs with this dagger. Just my opinion.. Not well versed on these, but as I have been informed by other dagger collectors this is indicative of a put together dagger..

Thanks for your reply Smitty , same here did not like the gaps, the blade scrabbard handle looks nice imo.
Regards Tobias.
Time period in materials are correct .......but I agree with Smitty also this grip may have been added on later. Mid period Eickhorn daggers were a little more tight yet with minute gapping.
Still a decent dagger .

Thanks for replying wich one would you choose? this one in this thread or this SA Carl Zander Solingen "Kvick" they are both up on Auction now!
Regards Tobias.
To Be honest Tobias..for myself if I had no other choice between the 2 examples..I would take the Early SA
Personal preference ..and the early history that comes with the Early dagger types.

Also a fan of the early manufactured daggers and swords myself , where I make an exception is with adding in the dated military items that show what the stresses of wartime caused to the items made in Solingen (and elsewhere). Best Regards, Fred
