Political Dagger Seminar - Max Show - Friday Oct, 2
Hey Gents...I was reading on the GDC Site and wanted to bring to the attention of the forum members who may be interested...and a great opportunity for those who may be attending the show....Ron Weinand has announced that there will be a Seminar on Political daggers.
I myself will be attending and its always good to sharpen up on what we have learned..an also what we have not heard of yet.
I just wanted to put this information out there for those interested. Regards Larry

It is not the size of a Collection in History that matters......Its the size of your Passion for it!!

Hey Guys..the seminar went very well and Tom Wittmann has covered some areas not known about :
The use of the Eickhorn Small double oval on other Presented blades
Gruppe Marks that are rare and their placements and application
Grips
The Christmas dagger ( with 1929 style grip eagle and motto font )
Regimental numbers on crossguards
Placement of logos ...transitional and late on blades.
The grip eagle ,,how and why it was streamlined from the 1929 type to the presently seen.
Thats just some of it what was being addressed...and also Tom Wittmanns Official announcement of his SA reference release of Next year.
After speaking with Tom Wittmann at length at the Max Show...Tom has jumped into the ring now and and is ready to complete this massive undertaking that will produce a 2 Volume set detailing about the SA dagger. A Much larger reference than the SS reference he released years prior.
Tom has made an official announcement about his upcoming SA reference release time frame and that..since Tom Johnson and himself ..has passed the rights and torch of the Max Show over to the OVMS .." Ohio Valley Militaria Society "..that he is not held down any more of the organizing activities that has take much of his time in the past.
According to Tom who was very direct about his reference....that late next year should be a release date...only if there are no tech or media issues ranging from writing..Format..and printing. Never before have I heard him be this more direct..and has been many years since his thoughts of an SA book after the release of his SS Reference. I still have my fingers crossed ..and still very hopeful.
Regards Larry
