SA dagger

Article about: i have just zoomed right in on the eagle and it looks to me without doubt that it has been messed with,.............shame really nice dagger otherwise, cheers Ronnie

    I would like buy a dagger SA. Seller wants $ 583. My question is - is it worth this price or not?

    I think that is a pretty good price,nice bold inscription and a really nice scabbard.Now if Ade will pass the blade through his authenticity scanner I think you could not go wrong

    Looks okey to me, but what's happened to the grip finish around the eagle?? William

    I looked at that as well, couldnt make it out, i thought it might be an attempt to glue the eagle in or possibly a replacement, cant say for sure but it does detract a little from the overall appearance, but generally a nice looking dagger

    i think with the area around the eagle looking tampered with,,i would pass on this one & wait for a better example

    I Agree, also the eagle looks very much like a later Aluminium type but i could be wrong, should be a solid nickle eagle in this early dagger imo
    Ask the seller for some close up pix of the eagle & surrounding area.

    the eagle was dug out and replaced later

    yes,,the eagle looks replaced and would not be correct if it is aluminum,and should be nickel silver style

    My concern would be the area around the eagle too, other than that it looks OK.
