Looks OK to me but someone has polished and it has a scratch on the blade. Just my opinion. Hopefully others will be along with more knowledge. Can't tell from the pics but should have more on blade.

Looks like a very nice late war example to me!
Everything appears to fit very nicely together. No spaces due to shrinkage of the wood and the blade appears to be in good condition as well. It looks like it has been gently sharpened though.

Nice cross grain remaining. Nut looks untouched. All arounds looks like a nice late example

And as Ralph said, might have been sharpened.....

Would the sharpening not mess up the cross graining? Blade does not look sharpened to me. Maybe just scratched by something.

Better pictures will tell if sharpened or not. Doesn't have to mess the cross grain. Depends how it was sharpened. I sparpen my pocket knives with a v shaped sharpener. Only touches the edge of the blade

Will need more pictures in natural light to tell whether the blade has been sharpened or not.

The multiple scratches along the edges in this photo look like "gentle" sharpening to me. JMHO.

I can see better now that I'm viewing it on a PC and not my tiny cell phone. Agree with Ralph.

Dejuce: Either way, while not perfect due to this sharpening, it is a nice dagger, especially if it is your first one.

Not the best grip to crossguard fit which leads me to think this dagger was opened at one time.

Check out this late RZM dagger that was produced in 1941,..a far more superior grip to crossguard fit.
