I am by no means wealthy, just a regular working class guy. I wonder if I should insure this knife? Can anyone guess the value of it for me for insurance purposes?
You should be able to insure it with no problems as a named item on your household policy. To replace it should it be lost, you would need to spend at least $600.

About 35 years ago i worked with a retired colonel James Atwood the author of a book on these blades your dagger lookes very much real its not on all real daggers but look for the azm mark it will be in a circle with the a on top if its not there it doesnt mean the daggers not real it was an acid etch and latter in the war the time it took for the mark was aliminated hope this helps
i told you azm after going back to the book that atwood gave my father the mark is RZM
