It is real, has the blade been buffed or is just the pic? The handle does not fit very well IMO but for the right price why not.

J.P. Sauer logo for comparison. I also think the dagger may be good.

Have some concern over the eagle though - bad lighting
perhaps, or my bad eyesight......? Although a 'chained'
example by a different maker, this is the type of eagle
    that I'm used to seeing:

Not too keen on the fit of the wood to the upper guard, but this may be from wood shrinkage, as the rest of it looks decent enough. William

I dont like the eagle either , the head appears quite large, the body too short and the legs too long, i think the fact re shrinkage isnt helping nor that the grip isnt seated squarely

Hi Michael, I wrote an answer late last and then lost my internet connection So I went to bed in disgust.

OK, my thoughts. I would return it. The issues are:

Blade has been buffed down to clean it.
Top crossguard is a poor fit.
Grip may have been redyed, as there is traces of some brown stain or something to the eagle?
No SA gruppe mark to the crossguard (does no make or break it, maybe never issued)
An early maker marked dagger should not be in a painted scabbard, it should be the so called anodised type.

And forum regulars will know what is coming: placed in the scabbard the wrong way around. Grr...My pet hate

So in my view a parts dagger.

There are much better daggers out there.

    Cheers, Ade.

The eagle seems out of proportions, it looks like a funny bird somehow, it triggers the NO buy thoughts in my head, and the grip has a bad fit.

Suhl daggers are known for their low step crossguards and this one has none.
