The Type A's will always be revered for being the introductory and first SS chains, manufactured in late 1936. You don't see them all that often, and I think there were only one or perhaps 2, in Tom's reference. For years they were mis-identified, and grouped into the Type B category. The configuration of the skull links which bore the septum was short lived, and probably around for only 6 months.
Congratulations on a historic and beautiful SS dagger, Lar

Larry, Congratulations on a very scarce one!! Since rectified in a later book, the one nasal septum example in TW’s book that I have direct knowledge of is from Vic Diehl which is labeled as a “Type II” on page 152. With his dagger added to a pre-book thread on another forum about the topic of chain links a number of years ago - Vic used an unusual method of photography to share a closeup that (at a distance) was not apparent in the book. Best Regards, Fred
