William the hole was there already when the Crane emblem was removed...
And the letter having SS runes ( noticed that too, LOL)....easy explained...it was made on the typewriter from Himmler himself that still stood in his office.....next to the drawer where this knife was found.
William i agree that Himmler NEVER would agree to have a knife like this.....
Gents you are very hard to convince that this for sure is a Original TR Himmler knife...LMAO
Ger
Ger...
Himmler says it was Das Mein Pockit Gaknife. Just look at the pretty eagle I carved with it if you doubt it. The carving is coming up at auction this weekend on Ebay for $80,000. It was part of his attempt to top Hitler's artistic abilities. Quite nice and should go for asking price. It has come right out of the woodwork and would be hard to upgrade. LOL!

Wonder what happened to his golf clubs ?
Things seem to appear genuine sometimes..but are they? Paper can be faked as well..a closer in hand study is needed.

It was quite a while back, but I seem to recall some other items from that general area that were for sale with a carefully written COA style supposed 'provenance' like this one that alluded to a connection with "HH" (and maybe some others). Typed using a period typewriter which are still sometimes seen for sale.
But the mental image that works best for me is Reichsführer SS und Chef der Deutschen Polizei Heinrich Himmler eating some cold pork and beans out of a can. Best Regards, Fred
Exactly.
The unauthorized, unofficial use of the runes - and especially, the SS Zivilabzeichen [civilian badge] design seen here - as mere decorative design elements on commercially available items would never have been tolerated by Himmler. In fact, this was expressly forbidden.
Here's a relevant order from the SS-Befehlsblatt of 25th Oct. 1935:
"No. 2: Re. rings with the SS-Zivilabzeichen
1. The wearing of rings with an embedded or affixed SS-Zivilabzeichen is forbidden.
2. Companies or persons who manufacture or sell rings or other objects with affixed or imitated SS-Zivilabzeichen are to be immediately reported to the SS-Hauptamt by the SS agency that becomes aware of this.
The report is to be in the form of a detailed account including information about the evidence for the unauthorized manufacture or sale.
The Reichsführer-SS"
