These are 'Dress' daggers, and they were never worn on the battlefield..........
I know someone here who recently had some grip restoration work done
on an SS dagger. I'll PM you Jeff, when I find out who the repairman is.
These daggers cost in the region of $2000 to $3500 today, in good
original condition. When the grip is 'restored' it may be worth
somewhere in the $800 to $1500 range, IMO............
Regards,
Steve.

yes............
perhaps I should have used another word or words. like recovered relic,or battlefield dig up. whoops there I go again! perhaps a dump site recovery?
Hmmn.........what do you call it then?
yeah........very desireable blade!
How about Shed find or attic find or basement find !!! , very doubtful re battlefield
A young lad could have gotten hold of it and played 'Paul Bunyan' on the
wood pile for a half hour and wrecked it as well !
I've done similar things with a British '07 bayonet and scabbard as a tad.
One kid gets the scabbard, the other the bayonet,
then a fencing match begins -
The scabbard always gets pieces gouged out of it..................... !
I know of an old friend who told me that in the early 70's, he and a
pal destroyed an SS dagger and an SA dagger in an afternoon
- by using them as 'throwing knives' against trees and
digging in the dirt with them. This was well before
I met the guy !
They are quite fragile really, not meant for 'serious' use.

You know I have heard that there are three things one should NOT do one is tickle a tiger in a Phone booth, tug on Superman's"s cape, and most of all sharpen a SS Honor dagger
All of you will get a kick out of this. Here is the elusive ultra rare SS scabbard that I was afraid to post. I dont want people tracking me down so they can come steal this wonderfull piece!
Jeff
PS:
I will be posting the updated photos of what the dagger looks like now that I have contained the rust and helped out the grip a bit.
Nice Greman Navajo SS code talkers scabbard
Eric
You wish!
Updated pictures of my dagger after gentle cleaning.

Jeff
