re: New buy: SS-Dienstdolch Modell 1936
Thanks Guys.
I would now like to get another 1936 pattern dagger with the so called "first pattern" chain. The deathsheads on the chain can be found in three versions. The "third pattern" which I have on the Dr Lolling dagger is the rarest to find. This is similar in shape to the first pattern but the nose on the skull has a septum ( a bone which divides the nose into two ). The SS runic marking on the back of the chain is also different between the two basic patterns.
Cheers, Ade.

re: New buy: SS-Dienstdolch Modell 1936
Thanks for the comments Guys
In reference to the maker. All chained SS daggers were not maker marker, so the actual maker is unknown.
Cheers, Ade.

re: New buy: SS-Dienstdolch Modell 1936
Thanks Ade , i wasn`t aware of that . I wonder if that was for the same reason that some top end Japanese swords were unmarked when passed over to high ranking dignitaries , as it was seen as slightly insulting and not the done thing to stamp a mark on an item of such quality .
cheers Al
