SS Dagger RZM 120/34 and Numbered

Hello,

I found this SS dagger on Past Glories Militaria.
Is this really a genuine dagger?

IMO the making of the personalized numbers are looking a little bit amateurishly

Interesting attribute that I had not noticed before..take a look at the upper scabbard fitting and a closer look at the position of the carrying ring to the curvature. Only one company that I know of..and these are rare to find..is that EP&S Ernst Pack and Sohn produced these for their SS daggers. The scabbard fitting is shorter than than other produced fittings. Below is comparison of the 2 scabbard types..the one on the left being Mac66 dagger and the one on the right a Standard Boker dagger. Rare indeed to see this. Nothing wrong with this scabbard being on a RZM120/34.

I contacted Ross.K when i bought the SS dagger from a WAF member but he could not identify the SS man at this time but there was a chance he could be found at some point in time, the number was not on any of the officers lists so he was most likely a EM, its a nice dagger in hand that one.

Thanks for all answers and opinions.

I was really sure that the dagger was genuine but the SS nummber was post-war to make the price just a little bit higher.

But I see that it's never too late to learn something new

Because from time to time postwar added numbers are seen with especially some supposedly belonging to known individuals I don't think that it hurts to have as many eyes on an item as possible. With the example here from an earlier discussion elsewhere not a dagger - but an added set of serial numbers that are demonstrably stamped instead of done by some other means claiming to be stamped. With the point here being made that even though an individual number stamp might be held at a different angle or struck with greater or lesser force. It should still be clear to most observers that it was the same number stamp that was being used at virtually the same time on both the scabbard and blade. Which was not the case in that discussion, or with some others that I've seen over time from various sources. Best Regards, Fred
