The etching looks semi ok like Ade said. I dont like that it is off center. Also, i do not like the high spine, the high polish with no traces of crossgraining, and wierd makers mark. To me it is a repro. Crossguards look ok though. Cheers, Raul

Hi,
I join those who believe this is not a genuine dagger for the reasosn already mentioned. Individual marked crossguards are relatively easy to get in an effort to enhance a repro dagger, the only problem there is that one has to be lucky with the fit. The blade looks not etched but stamped. But I also noticed that the tang of the blade lacks the typical small ridges on both sides. These small ridges that run all along the main part of the tang are leftovers of the casting process. In very few cases these ridges were sanded down, but 99 out of a 100 they were left as they were. Can you check on the typical maker marks on the flat side of the tang? often one or two letters or a logo with a letter (like H, A and/or C in combination). Cheers, DF
