To my disappointment, I learned that since Willi Hase was only a Rottenfuhrer and not an officer there are no records kept here regarding his war record. I would have to find someone in Germany, and then most records are still sealed. The good news is his name is not listed among the dead.

Thanks to the above for the comments...the dagger has not been touched at all and was hanging above a fireplace for many years when it was brought back to the states. Like a coin, I don't believe in cleaning items of this type; I like em' just as they are.

Hi G,
Never been to your country but maybe some day...I was very lucky to "snatch" this dagger away from a big collector just after it was listed. The file that comes with it weighs at least a pound.
