Some really great thoughts here, thanks especially to Mike for the photo as indication of how these things found use after the war. Glad the consensus is that it's a genuine relic with a bit of life to it, rather than a missold obscure Albanian fire-service helmet!

PS This kind of thing but using the rear rivet hole instead of welding. Much easier with limited resources if a little less sturdy.
