An interesting relic with multiple layers of paint. Looks like the part of it was buried and part exposed with some of the paint protected but then the shell scrubbed or cleaned with something. To me it looks like remains of what appears to be a winter camo with another layer of camo paint underneath but a bit hard to tell which came first. At any rate I'm not seeing a red medic cross but rather the remains of a reddish/brown camo paint.
Agree, looks like white winter paint (not wash) that then had a camo overlay.
As stated, a relic that has been scrubbed and bathed in acid. So with all that cleaning up, I would say it's near impossible to determine anything beyond that.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

I agree with Andy - i'm not seeing a red cross - the paint seems to go outside where you would expect a cross, particularly the top right area as you look at the photo.

Thank you very much for your help
