German Helmet, What Model?

Thanks for all the information and input. What would the Luftwaffe Stahlhelm mean? Sorry for my ignorance on the matter but I am not a collector, just ended up with this helmet during the course of my life. And I suspect that Joe cut the other end of the strap off in a hurry to grab the memorabilia.

This type of helmet was worn by members of the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force. This is not a flight helmet but would be worn by ground crews or even in some Luftwaffe ground combat units. Nice helmet!
