Helmet from "Operation Spring Awakening" March 1945

This one just arrived - found at the shore of lake Balaton (probably in swampy area) - where the "Lake Balaton Offensive" took place as part of "Operation Spring Awakening" (Operation Frühlingserwachen) in March 6-16, 1945 - it was the last major German offensive of World War II.

It's an M35 double decal - with some minor holes - also some original green paint (and maybe even camo? or just rust which looks like camo?) left on it - I'm quite happy with this one, my first relic with decals (or what's left of them anyway) on them.

The more I look at it - the more it looks like some kind of brownish-yellow paint on top of/mixed in with the green, instead of just rust. There is plenty of pitting, but the brownish-yellow seems too smoothly finished to be rust. What do you guys think?
