Default Help Identifying German WW2 Helmet

I purchased this at an estate sale and was hoping someone could shed some light on this. I have no idea whether this is a reproduction or a real helmet.
From basic searching It looks to be a Police/Fireman helmet, but there seems to be an absense of markings apart from 1 small square with a T inside.
    The leather seems pretty weathered.
Another thing that I was wondering about were the ridges on the sides.
I am not sure who painted the swastika on it.

Its a model 1934 civilian helmet, of the type used by the feuerschutz, Luftschutz. The T marking is for the maker Thale. Not sure about the added swastika either, possibly added later to give it more Gravitas. The ridges might be due to heat or the way it was pressed. Real, but not a combat helmet.
