If it was me buying it, i would probably be willing to pay a maximum of $450.
Upon some reflection and thought I'd actually revise my estimate to $350-400 as well... easiest way, I guess, would be to let the market decide by offering up at auction or entertaining best offers.

How lucky and exciting to have the chance to go out and dig items like this up! Wish I had the ability to visit such a place and do some digging. It's a great M40 and it's definitely a plus that the head band is still present. Cant expect the leather liner to still be intact after spending so much time buried, but most definitely a worth while helmet.

Great ground dug helmet! Must a thrilling to dig this stuff up with your own hands. I imagine it makes the items a little more personal.
