Me too, to be honest. But I'm not really a big militaria collector. I'm mostly just looking for some cool pieces to go with my Kar98ks. And, since I'm in Stalingrad at the moment, I figured it'd be a good time to pick something up.

You may be able to pin it down to a battle.
Well, it was found in Stalingrad. That might be a clue.

I'm going to check this out tomorrow. The guys is asking $44, I can probably haggle a bit. Any final thoughts/words of advice? This'll be my first helmet.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Just get it. For $44 you can't go too far wrong.

It's a Relic...if you get it and decide you don't like the white paint lines on it-remove them...The Shell is solid enough...

Those lines are strange. I kind of thought that they might be from goggles which rotted on and were pulled off? Something like that maybe?

Sadly many of these relics are shipped in from other less glamorous battle sites, sold as Stalingrad /Somme /Kursk etc found and the price to the unsuspecting is quadrupled. However as Glenn said for $44 you can't really go wrong. As the vendor is asking a reasonable price I would suspect that there is a chance that this was actually found near Stalingrad.
