Re: M40 SS relic helmet - another impulse buy!!!!!
Ah I misunderstood, yes a Quist decal is found on Q helmets. Layering if you mean by the substructure yes, but some fakes also have this substructure, but fail in other areas like graphics or pulver composition or ink. I was thinking you meant a Q decal has some unique layering sorry.

Re: M40 SS relic helmet - another impulse buy!!!!!
The first picture of this one didn't look right to me, but a close up of the decal is very convincing. The decal remnants are clearly around the pitted areas, not inside them. I would bet it is a good one.

Yes I agree and give this one the benefit of the doubt.

Any history of where it was found Dan ?
The first question I asked the seller Paul - but they are lax in the communication department!!
It was in the UK, seller said he had it for some time so I figure the back story is lost, pity.....
If I can do any sharper images I will but I understand there is not a lot to go on ( that's why it was cheap I guess - monetary value of these lids seems to be exponentially proportional to decal survivability. )
Thanks all, I'm happy with what I have.
Cheers, Dan
