Yes. There is a decal under there. Can never tell with these type of relic pictures if they are wet or if they have been treated.

Yes it is wet... Treated it with wd40
The metal on these are so brittle that they crumble if not treated asap.
WD40 won't be anything near a permanent solution. The butane evaporates and the active ingredient (fishoil I think) will remain but dries out and the corrosion continues.
WD40 will do nothing to stop or prevent rust, some even say it will speed up the corrosion process
What do you recommend to slow down the rust process?

Just keep it dry in a low humidity environment and it will be fine, probably last longer than a lifetime even in it's current condition.

Would i be right in saying the WD40 might over time lift any decal remains
