Here are some photos of my first "dug" German helmet. I got it in the early 90's from a friend of mine. Shortly after the fall of the "Iron Curtain" he went to Eastern Europe & Russia. He came back with tons of stuff (wish I had bought more).
This helmet was found in the Stalingrad area and appears to still have traces of the white camo paint. The liner is in great shape for a dug helmet. Apparently the helmet was sitting upright when covered and the inside did not fill up with dirt.

    Best Regards,

He sent back two conex shipping containers full of WWII German and Russian stuff. He had ground dug MG42's, MG34's, Mausers, Lugers, P38's, MP40's, etc. I was amazed when I saw it all. I just wish I would have bought more. I did get a WWII Soviet Army uniform & helmet and a Soviet trench periscope w/case from him.
The uniform & helmet are gone but I still have the trench periscope.

I'm sorry but I could not see your picture. I'm at work and some pictures won't show up on my computer here, don't know why.
What is it a picture of?

    Best Regards,
    Mike

Mike, excuse my ambiguous statement. I was referring to the picture posted by you. To be more precise, to the extraordinary feeling of digging and finding youself a beauty like that. Never before have I seen a better dug helmet.

Nice helmet, there is one thing i have learned from collecting anything. Unless the price is not right and i don't need the money i won't sell it. Too many times i have sold super pieces that i know i will never be able to replace them with.

I wish i could have your friends haul
