My new relic M42

Article about: This one just arrived an hour a go. The shell is a bit weak and heavily rusted. Right now its impossible to find any marks due to rust. When i can ill do a bit of cleaning and see what i can

    I have one in pretty much identical condition - possibly from the same
    source - Estonia via ebay.

    I would not do anything to it - any and all markings are long gone
    due to so much rust. I can't see any stamping/marking on
    my helmet either.

    Hi steve, actually i got this one from a guy that lives here in portugal, but he is from estonia, he goes there several times a year to get helmets.

    Mine, like yours, and all these M42's are in similar condition - some with partial liners,
    remaining original paint, and a lot of rust - I suppose they are found in
    old bunkers, or some other damp forgotten places............

    German helmet original M42 SIZE 66 on eBay.ca (item 250813341018 end time 08-May-11 15:11:04 EDT)

    Try to wash it with the oxalyc acid, maybe some part of colour could appear again!
