Article about: Gents, Let me add my relic german helmet to this wonderful forum. I believe it once belonged to the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek and that it was found in that region. Greetings, Marinus

    It certainly is a relic, an interesting one though. I hope there was no one wearing it at the time of impact.

    Would have given some poor soul quite a headache if he was wearing it when it sustained that damage.....

    Nice one. If it wasn't a practise target, then I guess the shooters were sick bastards having fun with a dead enemy.

    Many of these now holed helmets would have been rolling around the battlefield (sans owner) and being hit by random grenade splinters/assorted projectiles during the heat of battle.

    The amount of metal in the air would at times have been unbelievable.

    If some one was wearing that M35 at the time it got shot up, and lived to tell the tail I suspect they gave him a 1 kilo gold Verwundetenabzeichen, mit goldenem Eichenlaub, Schwertern und Brillanten!
