Need Help! First Helmet Purchase and Insignia Clarificiation

Hi,

I just recently purchased my first German helmet. This came out of an old GI's basement. However, I cannot find an insignia that matches it. (I know its in pretty bad condition). There is little red splotches all over the helmet so I don't think that the red is part of the insignia. There is no emblem on the other side.

Single decal M40 - likely size 62 or 64. It looks to be a Heer eagle that has seen
the ravages of time and lost most of it's detail - all that is left is the underlying
white background. The red colour is probably a scuff or paint spill.

This lid is rather worn so I hope you got it for a decent price.
Could we see the interior.........?

I would have to agree with the paint spill, looks like there's a little left and underneath the decal. For 180$ you did well!
